Arapuke Forest Bike Park attracts $5.0 million to Manawatū


Arapuke Forest Park is a key drawcard for mountain bikers to Palmerston North and Manawatū District, with more than 30 kilometres of trails available. In 2022, there was $5.0 million of spending in the region that was attributable to visitors for whom biking in Arapuke Forest was a key motivation for the visit.

Of the 10,450 people who biked in the forest, around 4,750 were local residents, while 5,700 were visitors to the region. These 10,450 bikers went on 66,850 rides within Arapuke Forest in 2022.

Bike tourism to Arapuke Forest Park has risen significantly since 2021. Spending by bike tourists attracted to the forest has risen 41% off a base of $3.5 million in 2021.
